1. Using PLR for small reports
=====================================
Last week we brought up the topic of using small reports to drive traffic (and customers!) to your auctions and websites.
This week, I wanted to share an idea that you can use to create these small reports without writing them yourself!
I have one word for you… well, technically, it isn’t even a word…
PLR
PLR stands for Private Label Rights. PLR products are a great way to create small reports (or content for a website or newsletter even!). Basically you purchase a packet of articles or content that you are allowed to edit or change however you want… then, you have the rights to give away or sell this content! You’ll have to be sure to read the terms and conditions for the PLR content that you purchase – but, many times you can get a nice packet of 5-10 articles on a specific topic for as little as $5-10.
There are plenty of online resources for getting PLR content… you can easily to a google search and find the right one for you. I would recommend that you search for “private label rights” + your niche.
For an example…
I just googled:
“private label rights” dogs
200,000 results came up – and I clicked on this particular one:
http://www.privatelabelreport.com/healthydog1.html
[note: I have never been to this site before and only bring it here for illustrative purposes… please do your own due diligence before purchasing online]
In this example, for $17, it looks like you get your hands on an ebook that is 14 pages on keeping your dog healthy and safe.
If your niche is pets/dogs, this could be a very cool report to give-away… Not only will you be building a mailing list when you do (be sure to keep those email addresses in exchange for the report!), but, you can edit the report to have links back to your auctions or website INSIDE the report – driving traffic back to your business!
How cool is that?!?
Enjoy!

ShowRoom Secrets
I usually work with people who sell children’s items on eBay… but, I came across this ebook earlier this year and it blew me away. The idea is fantastic — but, what really got me excited is noticing how creative the system is. This book is about listing cars on eBay for dealerships… and, whether this topic interests you or not, the creativity behind this idea is something worth disecting.
I am convinced that you could use the strategies outlined in Steve’s book in other markets… Or, you could just follow his footsteps and learn how to list cars for dealerships – and have a very lucrative business.

Seller Sourcebook has provided me with some quick tips for listing auctions successfully… I’ll be running a series of them over the summer. Check out previous tips in the archives at www.jennihunt.com/blog
TIP #4: Size May Matter But So Do Measurements
If you sell clothing you should really include the measurements of the item as well as the size. Saying an item is a size Large does not tell the potential buyer enough information – we all know that not all Larges (or size 10s) are cut the same.
I have a standard set of measurements I take on all clothing items. To make the listing process go faster (and so I remember which measurements to take) I keep a text document that lists the standard information I include in my clothing auctions. Then all I need to do is copy/paste this list in and fill in the numbers. Here is a sample of the list I keep and use; this has really sped-up the time it takes me to list. Please feel free to take this list and use it too if you would like!
Brand:
Size:
Color:
Condition:
Bust: (womens clothing)
Chest: (mens clothing)
Shoulder:
Waist:
Hips:
Sleeve Length: (important on petite items)
Length: (important for jackets, skirts & dresses)
Inseam: (important for pants)
I also copy/paste in the following blurb to let potential buyers know how I take my measurements. This way they can accurately measure themselves to see if the item will fit them. Again, please feel free to use my format if you would like to:
How I Measure Clothing
All items are measured while laying flat. Please compare the measurement of the item against your own measurements to insure the item will fit you properly.
Bust/Chest Measured completely around the bust/chest area of the garment.
Shoulder Measured across the back from armhole seam to armhole seam.
Waist Measured completely around the waistband of the garment.
Hips Measured across the front and back of the garment.
Sleeves Measured from the top of the sleeve down to the cuff.
Length Measured from top of collar to hem on jackets, shirts and skirts. Measured from waist to hem for skirts.
Inseam Measured from the center crotch seam down the inner leg to bottom of the cuff/hem.
