Merry Christmas {!firstname}!!
Jenni
***
Usually this time of year I spend a lot of time reflecting… as
well as looking forward. I don’t know about you, but I have a list
of things I want to finish up before the end of the month… just
so I can simply FOCUS when January hits.
What about you?
What are your plans for 2010, {!firstname}?
As I have talked with many eBay sellers this past year… I have
found that there are a lot of sellers out there who are
discouraged. For different reasons, they feel like eBay just isn’t
what it once was and that they missed out.
Well… they are right.
eBay isn’t what it use to be. In fact, nothing is what it use to
be. The beauty of that, however, is that this change just brings us
new opportunities!
We all have a choice to either focus on what use to be… or look
forward to what could be. I must be an optimist at heart… because
I choose to look forward and take advantage of the opportunities
available to us.
What are you going to choose?
What are you going to focus on for your business this next year?

Are you looking for a step-by-step program to help you get started with a blog to create new revenue for your eBay business? Discounted Charter Memberships are almost gone over at http://www.StartHereProgram.com/blogging
Look at what Deena had to say about the Start Here Blogging program for eBayers:
“Hi, Jenni,
Thank you!
I just wanted to tell you what an AWESOME job you’re doing with the Blog lesson system.
I’m about to start Lesson 9, and I just can’t believe all the information, step-by-step instructions, knowledge, and advice you are providing.
I would have had to read a zillion books and web sites to learn about it, and still never be able to narrow it down and get it done. Just poking around other web sites leads to mass confusion and eventual inaction.
I’m looking forward to the next lessons…
Thanks again for a great program – I know you put a tremendous amount of work into it, and I hope it brings you wealth and fame!”

Back To The Basics…
Do you have an About Me page? I sure hope so…
I’ve been spending a lot of time on eBay poking around, researching trends and I am always suprised at the number of sellers (even power sellers) that do not have an About Me page! And, most of those that do – aren’t using it to it’s full potential… talk about leaving money on the table.
If you DON’T have an About Me page, you need to pay attention.
If you DO, you need to pay attention.
Your About Me page on eBay is one of your biggest eBay assets when it comes to creating multiple revenue streams. It is one of the KEYS to USING eBay to grow your business instead of eBay using you).
More Than eBay…
I’m not the only one who thinks that there is more to building a successful eBay business than eBay itself.
Jim Cockrum over at My-Silent-Team (http://www.My-Silent-Team.com) mentioned in his last newsletter that eBay is no longer enough… and I couldn’t agree more! Not only are other options for selling items becoming more and more popular for BUYERS (craigslist, amazon, and more)… but, if you really want to grow your business – you have to view eBay as a TOOL for your business not the actual business itself.
Sure, you can sell on eBay and make some money with the items you are selling — and many are doing quite well with this model still; however, many sellers are frustrated with the control eBay has over them as a seller and are looking to grow beyond just selling. Plus – it is always a good idea to NOT have all your eggs in one basket.
This is no surprise – I’ve been talking about this for a long time. In fact, my Start Here Program is designed to help you move beyond eBay and into gaining more CONTROL over your business. (You can learn more about the Start Here Program here – as of this writing, there are still a few Charter memberships available.)
I also cannot say enough about Jim Cockrum and the information he provides. Almost 7 years ago I stumbled on his Silent Sales Machine ebook and it completely changed the way I view my eBay business… I have never looked back! You can sign up for Jim’s free newsletter HERE – top right corner. You can also look at his archive… including his take on eBay not being enough anymore.

- A blog can help generate multiple revenue streams so you aren’t so dependent on eBay for income.
If you have been thinking about blogging for your eBay business – or are just interested in learning more about the HOW…
Listen up!
I am getting ready to release my blogging course for eBayers!
We are only opening it up to a very LIMITED number of charter memberships so

Hi ~
I am very excited to be coming out of a great, big, huge dry spell… have you ever been there? You know where you want to go… what you want to accomplish… heck, I even knew what I needed to get done – I just couldn’t focus long enough to do it.
I have been working on this new blogging program for you guys (I know, I’ve been talking about it for a long time) – but, even though I had most of the outline finished… I was really struggling with filling it all in. I knew the content I wanted to put in there — just didn’t have the focus or discipline… or something…

If you run any kind of business… whether you like it or not, you are somehow involved in marketing. In fact, even if you don’t realize it, you are marketing your business. It happens whether you have a ‘formal’ plan or not… It happens when you tell other people what you do – either by word of mouth, through email, flyers on bulletin boards… or however else you communicate your business services/products to potential customers.
Here is the thing…
As an eBay seller, you have a choice.
You can A. Let eBay do all the marketing for you (and your competition)…
You can B. Let eBay affiliate marketers do your marketing (and your competition)…
Or,
You can C. Take the reigns into your own hands and do your own marketing.
What’s cool about Option C is that it is kind of an ‘all of the above’ sort of thing. Not only will you benefit from your own marketing efforts – you will continue to benefit from eBay and other affiliate marketers as well.
You must have a plan if you are going to be marketing your online business though… Before we get into how to develop a plan, I want to be very clear that marketing is not the same as advertising. Advertising can be a piece of your marketing plan; however, placing ads on various websites is not in itself a marketing plan.

One of the things I have talked about numerous times is the value of selling within a niche. When I’m talking about a niche – I’m talking about a group of products that the same audience has an interest for. The ‘tighter’ your niche is (or the more focused it is), the less competition you should have selling to that market.
So – for example…
Clothing or apparel is a niche… but a tighter, more focused niche would be women’s clothing or children’s clothing. You could sell just clothing in general – but, think about how much more you could cross-promote your items if you were only selling women’s, children’s OR men’s clothing.
If you know your customers are interested in women’s clothing – it is easy to create offers for them to purchase more from you. (And, remember, it is always easier to sell to those already showing an interest in buying from you!) On the other hand, if you are just selling clothing in general… you won’t know your customers as well and will have difficulty effectively promoting other products you are selling. In other words, if you cross promote to your other auctions and most of them are dresses – but, this particular customer is a man who has bought a jacket from you… it is likely your promotion won’t be all that effective.

The Garage Sale Plan – Your Budget
Okay… let’s talk a little bit about budget for hitting those garage sales.
Your budget will really come down to the market you are in… and since we are focusing on children’s items – that is going to be the point of reference for this weeks topic of budgeting for yard sales.
I usually bring only $80-100 with me when I am hitting yardsales. This doesn’t mean I don’t stop for more – but, I’ve been able to do fine with around a hundred bucks. I like to break it down so that it isn’t all $20’s… it helps the seller as well because they aren’t having to give me change if I find a hot Blue’s Clues notepad for twenty five cents.

Last year when I started this Auction Strategists Newsletter, I promised to only send our a newsletter when I had quality content to offer. If you are like me – you are bombarded from every direction with all kinds of INFORMATION… the last thing you need is just another thing to read.
At the same time, you have probably been looking for ways to grow your eBay business in this crazy economy… I have spent most of the last year analyzing different strategies that I’ve used and that many of my mentors have used to grow their business and I’m really looking forward to sharing with you what I have learned.
More than anything – I have noticed a gap in the helpful information that is available to you as an eBay seller… there are some great resources for learning how to sell better and increase your bids/sales/etc. But, what if you want more? Any business owner recognizes that putting all your eggs in one basket (ie., eBay) isn’t wise. What if you want to add baskets or various revenue streams? Again, there are some fabulous resources out there that teach how to grow an online business… but, who do you listen to? I’ve spent 6+ years learning about internet marketing. I’ve bought into some cheezy stuff in that time… and I’ve learned who to trust. I am more than happy to share these resources with you… and often have; however, I’ve noticed something… and this is where that gap is. Many eBay sellers are having a difficult time applying the strategies that ‘internet marketers’ are teaching to their eBay business. It is likely that you understand that adding a blog, for example, is a good idea for your business – you’ve probably heard that many times… but do you understand the why? And, if you do… do you understand how to apply a blog to your current eBay business so that it grows what you already have going instead of starting over?
New resource page for you
Many people have asked if I have a list of resources that I use (or have used) to grow my own online business. I do… and I finally put some of them onto a web page! At this point, I’m only sharing this page here on my blog – I don’t have any links to it from my other sites… I threw it together and would like to put a little more time into it before I let the whole world know about it
If you are looking for resources about blogging and internet marketing in general – check out my resource page here: www.jennihunt.com/resources
Enjoy! Oh – and if you see something missing that you are interested in learning more about… let me know… the resource page is a work in progress.
Jenni
Have you taken a breather from your business recently?
I’m very aware that I haven’t posted in the past 3-4 months… and it isn’t because I haven’t had some great things that I’ve wanted to share with you… it’s just that sometimes life takes priority – know what I mean?
We are kidding ourselves if we think that we can plug along day after day… week after week… month after month… and not need a break from our work or businesses. It’s GOOD to take a breather — to step away for a while… to focus on other things… and come back to business later. Usually this break allows for a new perspective on how you do business. And, most likely, you will return with a clear mind and a new motivation!
For some reason, however, I don’t think I need to convince you that taking a breather from your business is a good idea every once and a while… that’s not the problem.
The problem is… and I can almost hear many of you thinking it now…
“How am I suppose to survive in this economy if I step away for a month or two… or even a week?”
Ahhh… that is a great question
And, the internet has all the answers… We live in an amazing information and technology age. Learning to use this technology to automate your business is likely one of the most important things you could be doing right now. This is a tough one for Ebay sellers to grasp – usually, the concept is easy to understand… who can argue against creating automated revenue streams? Sounds like a dream! But, how do you apply this strategy to selling on eBay?
Talk about a loaded question! There are so many ways – really, all it takes is an open mind and a bit of creativity.
Monday Madness Starts NOW! Blogging for Auction Traffic
Okay, I know it’s not Monday… but, I thought I’d have a little fun and start this new feature a bit early
Monday Madness is something I’ve been wanting to do for a long time… and I am finally in a place where I can implement it – so, before another crisis hits, let’s dig right in…
What is Monday Madness?
I have gathered some great resources to help you grow your eBay business in creative ways… and every Monday you’ll find one of them offered for only $5! Yep – that’s it… only 5 bucks! Most of the resources will be valued at $20 or more – so the value is GREAT if you can get in on the Monday Madness deal.
Any Rules or strings attached?
No strings attached – and the only ‘rule’ is that most of the resources will be offered in limited supply. The amount available will not be disclosed – so to be sure you get in on the deal, you’ll want to check in first thing Monday to see what is available. The resource will be available either until the limited quantity offered is gone or the end of the day.
So – What is this first Monday Madness offering?
It’s all about blogging for auctions… (Don’t have a clue what I’m talking about? Check out this recent post about blogging for revenue and how it can apply to your auctions here.)
Top 10 Blogging Questions Answered in the first Monday Madness Offering… Regularly $10 – get it now for only $5 through the week.

1. Monday Madness Starts NOW!
=====================================
I had this idea at the beginning of the year to provide a cool resource every Monday for $5… A few medical emergencies put a damper on the idea – until now!
Every Monday, I am going to be offering a product that is designed to help you grow your online business. These products will be offered in limited numbers for only $5… even though the regular pricing will be much higher.
To kick this off, the first report will be available all week! It starts NOW…
Right now, I am offering a limited supply of my new report about blogging to bring traffic to your auctions. We have discussed this topic before… and this report goes a little deeper and answers 10 questions many have about blogging. Here is a list of these questions…
1. What Is A Blog?
2. What Makes A Blog Different From a Regular Website?
3. What Kind Of Blog Should I Use?
4. Where Should I Host My Blog?
5. What Should My Blog Look Like?
6. What Should I Be Blogging About?
7. How Often Should I Blog?
8. How Can I Make Money With My Blog?
9. How Do I Get People To Interact On My Blog?
10. What Could I Be Missing About My Blog?
(bonus) 11. How Do I Really Get Started With My Blog?
Blogging For Auction Traffic…
It’s all about traffic.
Without traffic (visitors to your site/auctions/etc.) you can’t have customers… so, the premise behind blogging is to increase your traffic.
One of the best ways I have found to increase traffic to a website (even your listings on eBay) is to have a blog… and here is why. Search engines absolutely love blogs! They love them because the content is frequently changing and fresh. Every time someone posts on a blog, not only does the main webpage change (ie., demonstrating an updated website), but a new page is added to the website (ie., fresh content) too. What has made blogs so popular, however, is that they are so simple to use!
If you can write an email, you can post on a blog… it is really that easy!
Once the blog is set up (also easy as following directions), you just type in your post title (like an email subject) and post content (like an email body)… hit the ‘publish’ button, and you are set!
I’m not going to get into the ‘how to’ for blogging – there are resources all over the net for that…
(In fact, you can get your hands on a short report I put together that answers the top 10 questions for blogging here.)
But, I do want to share with you some of my own experience with blogging.
I have a website that I built a couple of years ago – took me about 45 minutes to set up. This site is purely a “VRE” site. It has nothing to do with eBay – it is a “Virtual Real Estate” site… meaning that it is a site that has real, valuable content on it… but, it has ads sprinkled throughout to bring in a revenue. The site is www.SnacksForToddlers.com – and the original idea was to add a couple of new snacks every week or so (taking no more than 5 minutes) so that it was ‘morphing’ and producing good search engine results from being frequently updated.
