Today we are discussing Strategies to Lose the Lull… Would love to hear your thoughts!

I saw a headline today that said “Mid-Year Restart!”… Did you know the month of June is the month for “restarts”? I suppose it makes sense because we are halfway through the year and people tend to be in a bit of a panic that maybe they haven’t moved towards their New Year’s resolutions as quickly as they planned.

Considering I’m not much of a resolution person – I do find value in making goals for my business… But – over the years, I have determined that if I don’t take the time to stop and see how far I’ve gotten in reaching my goals, I might as well not have made them.

Looking back a few months – when the year was new, what were your business goals?
Did you have ambitions to continue the Q4 momentum you had?
Maybe you were looking to add new strategies to your business plan.
Were you looking to get approved to sell in new categories on Amazon?
Or, perhaps you were hoping to move into new inventory strategies…

The slow early summer months are a great time to “restart” and evaluate where you are… where you want to be… and how you intend to get there. It is a good time to make readjustments if needed so that when December 31st comes around, you will have reached your goals.

Usually, May and June tend to be slower months… along with February and sometimes September. But – these early summer months take the cake and consistently tend to perform lower.

One of the questions I get asked most is how to “lose the lull”.
What can I do to avoid the slow time so my revenue is more consistent from month to month?

If you are selling physical products online – you have a few options.

1. shop more. Find more products via retail or online arbitrage strategies.
2. Find replenish able items that are not seasonal.
3. Get approved in more categories so you have more inventory options.
5. Increase your sourcing to include more wholesale.

I believe in not putting all of your inventory eggs in one basket – so applying variety in your sourcing strategy is essential. There is value in having your inventory sources spread out between retail arbitrage, wholesale, and even private label. When product is more difficult to find in stores, you can have wholesale sources to fall back on for replenishable products… Helping to “lose that lull”.

I have spent hours with John Bullard Sr. and Ryan Reger talking about wholesale and trade shows… and as long as I have been in this business – I can honestly say that I am shocked at how much there is to learn when it comes to including these as a part of your inventory strategy.

I’m not saying that including wholesale is difficult… But, there are so many layers and ways to implement wholesale products and work with suppliers. I get a kick out of thinking outside the box… and, the way John Sr. works with suppliers is out of the box thinking.

We have been working together to provide a 90 Day Action Plan to help you apply wholesale and trade show strategies for increasing your inventory and business goals.
