1. Thinking Ahead – Plans for 2009
=====================================

It’s November already… and before we get too into the Holiday Season, it is important to look ahead to the New Year. I know… I know… crazy – but, time flies and I guarantee if you take the time now to look ahead, it will be time well spent.

Some people like to get into great detail when they look ahead to the next year… I’m not one of those people. First of all, I just don’t have the time to plan every week out… but, more importantly, I have learned first hand, that things don’t always go as planned. Life happens… One of the beauties of working from home and having your own online business is that you are able to be flexible when life get’s in the way – besides… isn’t that why you have your own business? So life CAN get in the way? 🙂

The best piece you can add to your plan for 2009 is flexibility. Start with an umbrella or high level plan for the year — think of 4-5 ways you want to grow your business or business goals and write them down. You could include things such as:
– find more inventory resources for reselling
– implement a plan for building a mailing list
– learn how to set up my own blog
– find blogs that I will regularly visit and comment on to become a part of the community and help establish myself in that particular market
– write a report to give away as incentive to join my mailing list
– increase ebay revenue by 20%
– add 2 new revenue streams
I could go on – but, you get the idea.

So – Number 1: Write out 4-5 goals for your business in 2009

Number 2: Get that calendar out and layout a general idea for when you would like to have reached each one of those goals. Be sure to pay attention to the order you put them in. For example, if one of your goals is to add 2 revenue streams to your business… and you also are planning to get your blog up… Plan to get your blog up before you reach your 2 revenue stream goal because it will naturally help you reach it.

Number 3: Fill in your calendar for the first quarter. You get a general idea of how your year is going to go with the second step mentioned above… and here you start getting a little deeper – but, only for the first 3 months of the year. In February, take another look at the big picture and plan out for the second quarter. This way you can be flexible and move things around as needed.

Planning early will help motivate you when the New Year comes… you will be able to jump right in and focus on what needs to be done. Just having it written down will make you more efficient.

Being more focused and running a more efficient business are keys to your sanity and business growth!

The weekly updates for the Holiday Toy Guide start this week!

The weekly updates take the long list of toys that is expected to be the most popular this year (it’s about 80 toys long right now)… and look at how each is performing on eBay compared to retail pricing.
This is put into a report that is emailed to Holiday Toy Guide GOLD members starting the first week of November… and a new report with current information is sent out every week all the way up to Christmas (8 weeks).

To give you an idea of what the weekly update will look like – here is a sample from last years list. Every week for the next 8 week, the Holiday Toy Guide GOLD members will receive a list that has this kind of information included for every toy on the list – it’s all about doing the research for you…
